WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently floated an intriguing scenario involving Triple H potentially interfering in Cody Rhodes’ championship match at WrestleMania XL.
The stage is set for The American Nightmare’s final opportunity to seize Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of this year’s Show of Shows.
However, if Rhodes and Seth Rollins fail to secure victory in a monumental tag team clash against Reigns and The Rock on night one, the championship bout will be subject to Bloodline Rules.
While many anticipate The Final Boss making his presence felt in the championship match, Bully Ray proposed on the Busted Open podcast that Triple H could be the wildcard, costing Rhodes his coveted title shot.
“Imagine The Rock is in the ring and he’s about to do Cody Rhodes in on night two, ‘Time to play the game.’ Boom, that f***ing place explodes. Hunter comes down, he’s face to face with Rocky, turns around, boot on Cody, Pedigree. Roman comes in, one, two, three. And now the story becomes the Attitude Era versus this new era. I just got goosebumps, guys, because I like that story of the Attitude Era versus the New Era,”
he elaborated. [9:50 – 10:42]
Contrary to Bully Ray’s speculation, wrestling veteran Matt Morgan believes that Cody Rhodes must script his ultimate triumph by clinching the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania XL.
Expressing his sentiments on the Gigantic Pop podcast, the former superstar emphasized his fervent desire for Rhodes to emerge victorious over Reigns.
“[Do you think Cody should win the title?] Abso-flipping-lutely. Yes, yes, yes, yes. I will be irate if he doesn’t. I’ll be heartbroken if he doesn’t,”
he asserted.
In a poignant moment weeks prior on RAW, Rhodes pledged to claim the championship and present it to his mother. However, The Rock countered by asserting that the only belt “Mama Rhodes” would receive is his weight belt stained with her son’s blood.
