One player recently accomplished an extraordinary feat by conquering the game’s most challenging difficulty using perhaps the least favorable spell available.
YouTube personality Fracture has once again embarked on a daring venture, this time undertaking an arduous challenge titled “I Beat Honour Mode by Casting True Strike 2,468 times.” Honour Mode represents the pinnacle of difficulty in the game, and to up the ante, Fracture opted to rely solely on True Strike, a spell renowned for its inefficiency both in Dungeons & Dragons lore and within Baldur’s Gate 3 itself.
Explaining his approach, the content creator elaborates, “In this run, I didn’t use explosives. There were no necrotic corpse shenanigans. I didn’t attack my enemies or use weapon special abilities that deal damage.” Furthermore, the challenge concludes at the end of Act 3, ruling out any early endings triggered by unconventional means such as eliminating key characters like Gale.
For those unfamiliar, True Strike offers the user an advantage on their subsequent turn at the cost of sacrificing their current action. This trade-off is generally deemed unfavorable by most players due to its lack of immediate impact.
Notably, True Strike does not inflict damage, leaving the player devoid of any means of self-defense initially. Fracture navigates through the initial four levels employing stealth and dialogue interactions until acquiring an item that imbues True Strike with Reverberation.
Once Reverberation accumulates five times, it inflicts a modest amount of thunder damage ranging from 2-5 points. However, this tactic quickly becomes tedious due to its repetitive nature.
Fracture’s penchant for steering the game into uncharted territories and executing unconventional strategies is evident. In one instance, the Raphael boss battle concludes with a party member resorting to evasive maneuvers until victory is secured.
Nevertheless, Fracture’s repertoire extends beyond this astounding achievement. Prior endeavors include completing the game without leveling up, a feat that defies conventional gaming logic, and embarking on a run without ever resting, further showcasing the YouTuber’s ingenuity and dedication to pushing the game’s boundaries.
