Ubisoft has officially confirmed the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Red, a highly anticipated addition to the franchise that transports players to feudal Japan.
Scheduled within the publisher’s fiscal year, which commences on April 1, the launch window for Assassin’s Creed Red spans from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, expressed enthusiasm for the forthcoming fiscal year’s lineup, citing the release of Star Wars Outlaws in 2024 and the introduction of Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, set in the much-requested feudal Japan setting.
Guillemot’s reference to the “feudal Japan universe” might seem unusual, conjuring images of an alternate reality concocted by a speculative fiction author. Nonetheless, it underscores the pervasive influence of the multiverse concept in contemporary pop culture.
The description aligns with the fervent desire among fans for an Assassin’s Creed installment set in historical Japan, a demand that has persisted since the series’ inception.
Assassin’s Creed Red is currently designated as a codename, with limited details available. However, Ubisoft has positioned it as a cornerstone of the franchise’s evolution, heralding it as “the future of our open-world RPG games on Assassin’s Creed.” Furthermore, it is expected to integrate with the enigmatic Assassin’s Creed Infinity hub.
While specifics about Assassin’s Creed Red remain scarce, Ubisoft has hinted at an impending unveiling. The company’s latest financial report indicates that the full scope of its 2024-25 lineup will be disclosed in May. This revelation is anticipated to coincide with Ubisoft’s next financial report, suggesting a potential opportunity for a more immersive announcement event catering to fans eager for details on upcoming titles.
