Alec Baldwin acknowledges the size of his family without hesitation. The former 30 Rock star, aged 66, made an appearance on a recent episode of the Our Way podcast, hosted by Paul Anka and Skip Bronson, where he engaged in conversation with the hosts about the prospect of expanding his family.
With eight children in total, Baldwin outlined his family tree, including daughters Carmen Gabriela, 10, Maria Lucía Victoría, 3, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 16 months, along with sons Rafael Thomas, 8, Leonardo “Leo” Ángel, 7, Romeo Alejandro, 5, and Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 3, with his wife Hilaria Baldwin, 40, and daughter Ireland, 28, from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger, 70.
“I’m the only person I know who drops four kids off at school in the morning and comes home and I still have three kids waiting for me when I get home,”
Baldwin jovially remarked during the podcast.
Referring to his large brood, he added,
“I have eight children. I got my oldest daughter. She has a baby and she and her boyfriend are living in Oregon. I met my wife and we got married and had seven kids in nine years. It’s crazy.”
When Anka inquired whether Baldwin was finished expanding his family, the actor responded humorously,
“Oh man, how dare you ask me that question,” before conceding, “I think I’m done.”
Reflecting on his evolving priorities, Baldwin explained,
“I found that as I got older, work became less interesting to me. I’m interested, you know, I wanna work and I like to work.
But they just don’t make that many films anymore that I think are interesting. Plus, we’re all older. Whatever I’ve done in the past, I try not to be duplicative of that.”
He then shared the dynamic with his wife, stating,
“Then all of a sudden, I met my wife, who I love dearly. And every time the [youngest] baby would get to be 2 years old, we go, ‘Maybe it’s time for one more baby — just one more baby…’ So we have seven kids.”
Hilaria Baldwin, in agreement with her husband, expressed similar sentiments in a June cover story for Romper.
“This is probably, most definitely, almost completely my last baby,”
she disclosed with a smile, adding humorously,
“I’m always afraid to say it. I was putting away my maternity clothes recently and was like, ‘I’m afraid to give them away because then I’ll find out I’m pregnant.'”
While Hilaria affirmed her stance on concluding their childbearing journey, she noted that her husband had yet to undergo a vasectomy despite her subtle reminders.
“Every single time I have a baby, my OB writes down the vasectomy doctor on a Post-It, and I bring it home to Alec,” she revealed, concluding with a playful admission, “He hasn’t done it yet.”
