All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Collision has bounced back in a big way, with the latest episode pulling in an impressive 523,000 viewers on average, a whopping 38% increase from the previous week. This significant surge in ratings is a welcome boost for the promotion, especially with the highly anticipated Double or Nothing pay-per-view event just around the corner.
Last week’s episode suffered from being preempted by an NHL playoff game and facing stiff competition from an NBA playoff game on ABC, resulting in a paltry 378,000 viewers. However, the May 18 episode saw a remarkable turnaround, with the show’s ratings rebounding strongly. Even Rampage, which aired directly after Collision, managed to draw a respectable 391,000 viewers, beating last week’s Saturday show.
The key 18-49 demographic also saw a notable increase, with a 0.15 rating, up 25% from the previous week’s 0.12. This marks the highest rating in the demo since February 10 of this year. AEW President Tony Khan took to social media to express his gratitude to fans for tuning in, highlighting Collision’s ratings triumph ahead of this weekend’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
The latest episode of Collision featured a packed card, with exciting matches and intense action as the promotion builds towards the highly anticipated pay-per-view event. The show kicked off with a thrilling match between Will Ospreay and Shane Taylor, followed by the Undisputed Kingdom’s attack on Ospreay. The FTW Championship Contenders Series saw HOOK defeat Johnny TV (formerly John Morrison), Katsuyori Shibata take down Rocky Romero, and Bryan Keith overcome Boulder.
The main event saw Bryan Danielson and FTR team up to take down Lance Archer and The Righteous, leaving many fans puzzled by the sudden insertion of The Righteous into Danielson and FTR’s current storyline. Despite this, the Washington crowd was electric, and The Elite continued to pull strings behind the scenes to soften Danielson up before Double or Nothing.
The coming episode of Collision will serve as the go-home show before the 5th annual AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view, and fans can catch the excitement on TNT every Saturday night at 8/7c. With momentum on its side, AEW is poised to deliver an unforgettable pay-per-view event, and fans can’t wait to see what’s in store.
