Adventure Time is making a triumphant return to the world of comics under the banner of Oni Press, marking a significant moment for fans eagerly awaiting fresh adventures. The revival kicks off with the re-release of beloved classics in compendium collections, paving the way for brand new tales set to debut in 2025.
This revival follows the conclusion of the previous Adventure Time comic run of 75 issues at Boom! Studios back in 2018, making Oni’s upcoming releases the first of their kind in nearly five years.
To whet fans’ appetites, Oni Press will initially roll out compendium editions featuring some of the original Adventure Time stories. The first two releases are Adventure Time Compendium Vol. 1, slated for October, and Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Compendium, scheduled for November.
Adventure Time Compendium Vol. 1 revisits the inception of the series, compiling the initial 35 issues scripted by Ryan North and brought to life by a talented array of artists including Shelli Paroline, Braden Lamb, and many others.
Meanwhile, the Fionna and Cake Compendium gathers the enchanting escapades from Adventure Time with Fionna & Cake #1–6 by creator Natasha Allegri, alongside Adventure Time with Fionna & Cake: Card Wars #1–6 crafted by writer Jen Wang and artists Britt Wilson and Betty Liang. The compendium includes shorts contributed by N.D. Stevenson, Lucy Knisley, and Kate Leth.
Sierra Hahn, Oni Press’ Editor-in-Chief, expressed excitement about reintroducing Adventure Time comics to a new generation of readers, acknowledging the series’ legacy of attracting top-tier talent. Hahn emphasized the privilege of bringing this rich tapestry of creativity back into print and teased forthcoming collections that aim to satisfy both devoted fans and newcomers alike.
