Cody Christian, the actor portraying Cloud Strife in the English version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, has revealed that the upcoming sequel features a scene where his character becomes “unhinged.”
Cloud Strife is traditionally depicted as a composed and stoic hero, seldom raising his voice or expressing unnecessary words. His facial expressions typically span from mild distress to a gentle, reluctant satisfaction, maintaining a calm demeanor.
Therefore, the revelation of a moment in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth where Cloud undergoes a significant emotional shift comes as a surprising revelation.
In a recent interview with Square Enix, shared by Final Weapon, Cody Christian discussed this particular sequence without divulging too many details to avoid spoilers.
He expressed his excitement about showcasing a different and intense facet of Cloud’s personality, emphasizing the impact it has on the character’s relationships with the core cast.
Christian stated, “There’s a whole sequence – I don’t want to reveal its exact location in the game – but let’s just say that we witness a very… unhinged side of Cloud. Exploring that and the interactions with the core characters who know him… I’m getting chills thinking about it – it was really, really cool! I’m excited for fans to see it.”
Acknowledging the serious tone of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the emotional moments in the 2020 Remake, which allowed both the character and Christian to display a broad emotional range, there is anticipation regarding the events that unfold and how Cloud responds in the upcoming sequel.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is scheduled for release on February 29 on the PS5.
