Cody Rhodes is showing appreciation for an AEW star ahead of Revolution 2024 this Sunday night at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in North Carolina.
The American Nightmare, formerly an EVP of All Elite Wrestling, made headlines when he departed the promotion prior to WrestleMania 38, opting instead to return to WWE, where he triumphed over Seth Rollins in a singles match.
Rhodes, who has secured victory in the last two Men’s Royal Rumble matches, is gearing up to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.
As Sting prepares to bid farewell to the wrestling ring following AEW Revolution 2024, where he and Darby Allin will defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks, Rhodes took to social media today to pay tribute to the legendary wrestler for his merchandising success ahead of his final match.
“Lil’ Stinger 🦂,”
he affectionately wrote.

Darby Allin stirred the pot with a promo on AEW Dynamite last month, suggesting that Cody Rhodes was part of the EVP team with a brain. This led to AEW fans chanting for Cody Rhodes during Dynamite.
EC3 weighed in on the situation during a recent episode of Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws, suggesting that the promo went viral for all the wrong reasons. He emphasized that AEW shouldn’t encourage fans to chant for the biggest star from a rival promotion.
“No, the whole point of a promo is to get across your business, your character, your company, so I think the last thing you would want was them to chant the name of somebody who is main-eventing the biggest show in the world in an opposing company. It’s just, it’s not right, but the problem is so many modern talent especially in that sort of realm…is in a bubble.” [6:13-6:42]
