Paradox Interactive has recently declared a postponement of two months for the highly anticipated release of Prison Architect 2. The sequel to the immensely popular original title from 2015, developed by Introversion Software (whose rights were acquired by Paradox in 2019), will now hit the shelves on May 7th.
This decision comes as developer Double Eleven seeks additional time to meticulously address lingering bugs and enhance the game’s overall performance.
Prison Architect 2 was initially unveiled in January, promising a revitalized rendition of the prison management concept in full 3D. Anticipated features included intricate multi-floor construction mechanics and a novel connection system that would intricately shape the dynamics between prisoners.
Originally slated for launch on March 26th across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms, enthusiasts will now have to exercise patience until May due to the recent delay.
In an official statement addressing the shift in release date, Paradox emphasized its confidence in the game’s quality while expressing the necessity for additional time to iron out any existing issues and optimize performance across all platforms. The publisher stated, “Although sticking to the original launch date was an option, we feel that taking this additional time is necessary to ensure that we offer a smoother experience to our players from day one.”
To keep fans engaged during the extended wait, Paradox announced plans to host a series of streams starting in March, offering insights into the final stages of the game’s development.
As previously disclosed, Prison Architect 2 will be priced at £35/$40/€40 upon its release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on the revised date of May 7th.
