On this week’s episode of the Eurogamer Newscast, we delve into Microsoft’s recent business update, which confirmed that Xbox will be releasing four console exclusives – at least for the time being – on platforms beyond its own, including PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
The decision not to disclose the specific titles of these exclusives has raised questions. Despite this, titles such as Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves have already been widely speculated to be among them.
This leaves us pondering the fate of previously rumored releases like Starfield. Furthermore, it prompts us to wonder where Microsoft will draw the line in terms of which games it chooses to make available elsewhere. Presently, these four exclusives seem to mark the initial steps of Microsoft’s broader multiplatform strategy.
In addition to these developments, we also examine the various tidbits of news that Microsoft dropped for its loyal Xbox fanbase. This includes hints at new Xbox console hardware slated for release later this year, as well as mentions of a truly next-gen Xbox that remains several years away. Joining me for this discussion are Eurogamer’s Ed Nightingale, Victoria Kennedy, and Liv Ngan.
