WWE veteran Dutch Mantell shared his enthusiasm regarding The Rock aligning with Roman Reigns in the lead-up to WrestleMania 40. The surprising development unfolded during the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press conference, where The Rock intervened on behalf of Reigns.
He delivered a resounding slap to Cody Rhodes, asserted his alliance with Reigns, and directed strong words toward Triple H before exiting the arena alongside The Bloodline.
Mantell expressed his excitement about the evolving storyline and the inclusion of The Rock, emphasizing the unpredictability introduced by unforeseen circumstances. He acknowledged the creative team’s efforts in managing the unexpected turns and applauded the storyline’s development, particularly in terms of the dynamic between The Rock and Reigns.
“They fell into this. All of a sudden, you have these mitigating circumstances… But I think they probably did the best job with it that can be done. The only thing now I gotta see is where Rock fits in. Now, Rock and Roman, are the family and wherever that leads. I talk about doors open. They have a lot of doors open for everybody to go.”
Mantell also commended WWE’s decision to feature Cody Rhodes in the headline match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Although he expressed uncertainty about the decision-making process behind Cody’s victory at the Royal Rumble, Mantell ultimately conveyed satisfaction with Cody’s inclusion in the marquee bout.
“I’m glad they got Cody back in. I don’t even know who decided to put him over in the Royal Rumble because I don’t follow that logic at all.”
As anticipation builds for the upcoming SmackDown episode featuring appearances by The Rock and Roman Reigns, Mantell’s comments highlight the intrigue and potential directions the storyline could take as WrestleMania 40 approaches. The collaboration between The Rock and Reigns adds layers of complexity and excitement to the unfolding narrative.
