Bloober Team, celebrated for their successful Silent Hill 2 remake, has announced a new original intellectual property and third-person survival horror game called Cronos: The New Dawn. This project represents a bold move for the studio, as they seek to redefine the horror genre with fresh ideas. CEO Piotr Babieno stated that this title reflects their commitment to evolving their creative vision and strategy, indicating a desire to explore new avenues within survival horror.
Cronos: The New Dawn is Bloober’s first original entry into the survival horror realm, building on their previous psychological horror titles like Layers of Fear and The Medium. The recently released cinematic trailer hints at a shift towards a more intense experience, featuring grotesque creatures inspired by H.R. Giger and a stark, zero-gravity environment. This suggests that the game will not only retain Bloober’s signature psychological elements but also incorporate a more visceral and aggressive style of horror.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future that evokes the atmosphere of 1980s Poland. Players will take on the role of a character known as the Traveler, tasked by an enigmatic organization called the Collective.
The mission revolves around extracting individuals who did not survive the apocalypse, introducing a unique time travel aspect to the gameplay. As players navigate a treacherous wasteland shaped by a cataclysmic event referred to as the Change, they will face monstrous foes that challenge their combat skills and survival instincts.
Anticipation for Cronos: The New Dawn is high among fans of horror and the studio’s previous works, with the game set to be released on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2025. With its intriguing narrative and promise of a more aggressive horror experience, the game is poised to engage players who appreciate both psychological and action-oriented elements in survival horror.
