Genshin Impact’s update 5.1 has generated excitement with the introduction of Xilonen, a new 5-star Geo character. She is anticipated to become one of the most powerful support characters in the game’s four-year history.
Similar to update 5.0, players can earn free Primogems by swiftly completing new content. The update also includes various quality-of-life enhancements aimed at improving gameplay and player experience.
During the special program hosted by HoYoverse, which was notably led by localization team members due to the ongoing video game actor strike, details about Xilonen’s unique abilities were revealed. She possesses a skill that allows her to skate up walls, aiding in exploration.
Furthermore, her elemental skill can reduce enemy elemental resistance for up to three different elements based on the team’s composition, echoing the effectiveness of the Viridescent Venerer artifact set used by Anemo characters. This feature will also work seamlessly with the new damage-boosting artifact set, Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, tailored for Natlan characters.
Xilonen’s skill mechanics enable any element that triggers the Crystallize reaction—such as Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo—to enhance her effectiveness. Additionally, if the team consists of only three elements, she will reduce Geo resistance, allowing players to optimize their team compositions for maximum damage.
For example, having two Pyro characters and one Hydro character will increase the damage dealt to enemies by Pyro, Hydro, and Geo attacks. Her elemental burst also offers healing to the active character, further adding to her utility depending on the elemental makeup of the party.
Many players are already comparing Xilonen to well-established characters like Kazuha and the Hydro Archon Furina. While she may not have Kazuha’s ability to group enemies, her healing and damage-boosting capabilities provide a different but equally valuable form of utility. With her resistance shredding skills and significant damage enhancements, Xilonen is set to be a standout character in Genshin Impact’s lineup.
In addition to Xilonen, update 5.1 will feature a rerun banner for Chiori, another 5-star Geo character from Fontaine, alongside reruns for popular characters like Hu Tao and Nahida. The update’s second half includes a Sumeru festival where players can earn a free 4-star Hydro character, Candace.
Furthermore, players can earn 500 Primogems for completing new chapters in the Archon quest and an additional 400 Primogems through exploration rewards in Natlan. These limited-time rewards aim to encourage players to engage with the new content. The update will also reintroduce familiar events, including daily commissions and monthly challenges like the Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater, which features new cosmetics for characters such as Zhongli and Keqing.
