Death Stranding, a game known for its meticulous design that invites players to engage with its cinematic elements, is set to be surpassed by director Hideo Kojima’s upcoming project, Physint. Kojima envisions Physint as a groundbreaking creation that will truly blur the lines between film and video games, going beyond the immersive blend of gameplay and cinema found in Death Stranding.
In an interview with Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, Kojima expressed his ambitions, highlighting Sony’s diverse portfolio encompassing games, music, and movies.
Physint, according to Kojima, is not just an interactive game; it is a simultaneous fusion of a movie, incorporating elements such as visuals, storytelling, themes, cast, acting, fashion, and sound. The goal is to elevate the experience to a level of “digital entertainment” that can be aptly labeled as a ‘movie.’

Kojima announced the working title of the game as “PHYSINT,” marking the third original intellectual property developed by Kojima Productions.
Described as an “Action Espionage” game for the next generation, it promises to leverage cutting-edge technology and talents from around the world. Despite the project being in the preparatory stages, Kojima emphasized that full-scale production will commence after the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The sequel is confirmed to feature intriguing elements such as a sentient ventriloquist’s dummy, a guitar gun, a baby with eyeliner, and the involvement of George Miller.
As fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter in Kojima’s creative journey, the unveiling of Physint at the PlayStation State of Play January 2024 show marks a significant leap towards pushing the boundaries of interactive storytelling and digital entertainment.
