Cliff “CliffyB” Bleszinski has expressed his willingness to provide consultation for the next Gears game, emphasizing that Microsoft and Coalition would benefit from his input. In a recent statement on X/Twitter, Bleszinski, who last contributed to a Gears game in 2011, acknowledged the franchise’s significant role in his legacy and stated that collaborating with Microsoft would be valuable from a public relations standpoint.
Despite his openness to contribute, it appears that neither Microsoft nor Coalition has taken Bleszinski up on his offer. Consequently, he mentioned that he has “moved on” from game development. Bleszinski reiterated his willingness to offer insights, writing, “I’m down to consult. Give my two cents. Crickets.”
Acknowledging Gears’ enduring significance to his legacy, Bleszinski expressed understanding but noted that he hasn’t been contacted by Microsoft or Coalition. Despite his belief that his input could be gold from a PR perspective, he accepted the situation, stating, “It is what it is.”
In reflection, Bleszinski mentioned his past venture, Boss Key Productions, acknowledging its conclusion with the phrase, “Fine, shit happens.” However, he conveyed that he has since ventured into various pursuits, including restaurants, Broadway, his memoir, comics, and stand-up comedy, emphasizing that he has been on a new journey for some time.
Addressing his fans, Bleszinski conveyed gratitude for their support and urged them to explore his comic, Scrapper. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of creators making personal content.
In a separate post, Bleszinski referenced the success of Palworld, stating that it “kinda validates” a pitch he had made to Epic Games many years ago. He shared that he had proposed the concept of “medieval Pokémon with baby dragons instead” to Epic, but the idea was rejected by major publishers.
