The WWE Royal Rumble is always filled with surprises, and this year could be no different. After declining an offer to return to the WWE last year, Peyton Royce, one half of the popular tag team The IIconics, has expressed interest in making a comeback to the company. Specifically, Royce is open to being a surprise return in next year’s Royal Rumble match.
For those who may not recall, The IIconics, comprised of Royce and Billie Kay, were released from WWE in 2021 as part of the company’s budget cuts. The Australian duo then joined Impact Wrestling, where they adopted the new moniker, The IInspiration, and went on to win the Impact Knockouts World Tag Team Championship.
Last year, WWE reportedly extended an offer to The IIconics to participate in the Women’s Royal Rumble match while they were still champions in Impact Wrestling. However, the duo turned down the offer, citing that it wasn’t the right time for them to return to WWE in any capacity.
Fast forward to the present, and it seems that Royce’s stance has changed. During a recent appearance on Ring the Belle, Royce revealed that she would love to return to WWE for a Royal Rumble appearance. This marks a significant shift in her stance, and it will be interesting to see if WWE comes calling again.
The IIconics were a beloved tag team during their time in WWE, known for their charisma and in-ring prowess. They were eventually split up by WWE, with Royce and Kay facing off against each other in singles competition. The team’s disbandment was a result of a match stipulation, where Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott defeated them, leading to their eventual breakup.
Since their release, both Royce and Kay have taken time away from the ring, focusing on their personal lives. Royce married NXT’s Shawn Spears in 2019 and has since become a mother of two, with another child on the way. Kay, on the other hand, has been keeping her personal life private, only recently announcing her marriage and the birth of her son, Cooper.
The question on everyone’s mind is: will we see The IIconics reunite in WWE? While Royce has expressed interest in returning, it remains to be seen if WWE will extend another offer. One thing is certain, however – the wrestling world would love to see The IIconics back in action, bringing their unique blend of sass and athleticism to the WWE universe.
