WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has never been one to hold back his opinions, and his latest comments about All Elite Wrestling (AEW) EVPs The Young Bucks are no exception. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Bischoff took a swing at the Tag Team Champions, likening them to the pop sensation Backstreet Boys.
The pointed commentary comes on the heels of The Young Bucks’ recent AEW segments experiencing a decline in viewership. Bischoff, known for his brutal honesty, did not mince words, inferring that The Young Bucks’ brand of wrestling is more akin to a pop concert than a high-stakes athletic competition.
This is not the first time Bischoff has expressed his dissatisfaction with AEW’s booking decisions, often criticizing CEO Tony Khan for what Bischoff perceives as questionable creative choices. The veteran’s criticism extends to some of AEW’s top talent, including The Young Bucks, who have been instrumental in shaping the promotion’s identity.
In contrast, Bischoff has been effusive in his praise for Tony Schiavone, a fellow veteran commentator who has worked in various promotions, including WWE, WCW, and TNA Wrestling. On his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff extolled Schiavone’s contributions to WCW, stating that he believes the esteemed commentator may one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Currently, Schiavone serves as the play-by-play commentator on AEW Collision, as well as Dynamite and Rampage. While Schiavone’s accolades continue to grow, The Young Bucks remain a lightning rod for criticism, with Bischoff’s Backstreet Boys comparison igniting a firestorm of debate among wrestling enthusiasts.
As the war of words between Bischoff and AEW’s elite continues, one thing is clear: the world of professional wrestling remains as divided as ever, with personalities like Bischoff and The Young Bucks keeping the drama and heat alive outside the ring.
