The world of professional wrestling is abuzz with the announcement of a new documentary series, “Who Killed WCW?” featuring none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the narrator. However, not everyone is thrilled about The Great One’s involvement.
A fan recently expressed their reservations about the project, citing concerns that it would have a huge WWE tilt due to The Rock’s production company, Seven Bucks Production, being involved.
Kevin Nash, a wrestling legend and one of the featured talents in the documentary, was quick to respond to the fan’s concerns.
He took to social media to reassure fans that this documentary would tell the real story of WCW’s demise, without the WWE’s spin. “No, we told our story. Not the WWE victor’s version. This will be the first real take,” Nash wrote.
Nash’s response is likely to put many minds at ease, as fans of WCW have long felt that their favorite promotion has been misrepresented or marginalized by WWE.
The documentary promises to go into the behind-the-scenes stories and controversies that led to WCW’s downfall, featuring interviews with other wrestling legends like Eric Bischoff, Diamond Dallas Page, Vince Russo, and Goldberg.
Despite some initial reservations, it’s clear that The Rock’s involvement in the project has generated significant buzz. As one of the biggest names to come out of WWE, his presence is sure to draw in viewers who might not have otherwise been interested in a documentary about WCW.
And as Kevin Nash pointed out in a recent podcast appearance, The Rock’s massive following and star power are undeniable assets.
“The Rock tried to buy the Mr. Olympia; he is involved with the UFL, Under Armor, some energy drinks, tequila, and products for face, Jesus! I don’t know what Roman Reigns has in Instagram followers, but I know he doesn’t have close to 400 million,” Nash said. “There’s a huge difference. People will go buy a ticket to see The Rock because he’s a movie star.”
With its all-star lineup and promise of unfiltered storytelling, “Who Killed WCW?” is shaping up to be a must-watch for wrestling fans everywhere. And despite some initial doubts, it seems clear that The Rock’s involvement will only add to the project’s appeal.
