Actress Sophia Bush has recently revealed that she identifies as queer, a year after announcing the end of her short-lived marriage. The 41-year-old star of “One Tree Hill” shared details about her personal life in a candid magazine article.
In an article for Glamour, Bush talked about the doubts she had before getting married to entrepreneur Grant Hughes in July 2022. She confessed to almost calling off the wedding in April 2022 but decided to go ahead with it and tried to be the best wife she could.
Despite having an amazing wedding weekend, Bush opened up about the challenges she faced in the following year. She struggled with the fertility process, which made her rethink her relationship. Bush realized she had made a mistake and felt a shift inside her as she went through the difficult journey alone.
To take some time for herself, Bush accepted a role in a play in London’s West End. However, she had to step back later due to health issues. When she returned to LA, she found solace in a group of women going through similar relationship troubles. Among them was former soccer player Ashlyn Harris, whom Bush had known for years. They grew closer, especially as Harris was going through a separation from her wife.

Bush described falling in love with Harris and reflected on the importance of coming out, especially during a time when the LGBTQIA+ community faces significant challenges. She emphasized the need to respect and honor the act of coming out, acknowledging the support and love she has received from the queer community throughout her life.
Bush shared that she has always known her sexuality exists on a spectrum and now identifies with the term “queer.” She expressed happiness in embracing her identity and feeling at home within the queer community.
