Triple H is known for his appreciation of WWE traditions, and recently, he’s been reintroducing classic championships like the World Heavyweight and Tag Team titles. Now, another classic is making its comeback: the WWE Speed Championship.
In a recent tweet, Triple H expressed his excitement for the ongoing Speed Championship semifinals, signaling the impending crowning of the inaugural Speed Champion. He wrote,
“The #WWESpeed Semifinals are underway, and we’re one step closer to crowning the first-ever WWE Speed Champion. @KingRicochet @jd_mcdonagh.”
The WWE Speed Championship introduces a unique concept, featuring quick contests with a three-minute time limit, offering under-utilized superstars more opportunities.
Ricochet has already secured his spot in the finals, awaiting the winner between “Big” Bronson Reed and Johnny Gargano, with their match set for the May 1st episode of Speed.
Meanwhile, following the unveiling of the WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown, Triple H extended a handshake to the new champions, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory.
However, they refused, mocking the 14-time world champion instead. SmackDown GM Nick Aldis intervened, setting up a number-one contender’s match to determine challengers for Waller and Theory.
After the show, Waller took to social media to assert their dominance, stating, “It’s all about the game, and how you play it.”
In other developments, The Street Profits emerged as the new number-one contenders to Waller and Theory’s championship reign, fresh from their victory at WrestleMania XL.
The WWE Draft’s first night is scheduled for the upcoming SmackDown episode, promising further excitement from the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
