AEW has forged numerous partnerships worldwide, spanning from RevPro in the United Kingdom to AAA in Mexico. Among these collaborations, the longstanding alliance with NJPW has yielded considerable success, culminating in the organization of two Forbidden Door pay-per-views, with a third installment on the horizon.
In late 2023, AEW revealed a strategic partnership with CMLL in Mexico, facilitating the exposure of Mexico’s top-tier luchadors on AEW television.
Reflecting on these developments during the AEW Dynasty media call, Khan expressed admiration for the collaboration with CMLL, hailing it as a mutually enriching experience.
“It’s been amazing working with CMLL,” Khan remarked. “They’re one of the greatest wrestling organizations in the world, and it’s been interesting.”
He emphasized the gratification derived from collaborating with various promotions worldwide, singling out the partnerships with CMLL and NJPW as particularly rewarding.
“Salvador, who runs CMLL, has been just great to work with, Rocky [Romero] is an amazing intermediary between these companies, and it’s really great having Rocky in AEW because he’s also a really fair person who’s looking out for the interest of everybody in these things.”
The cross-promotional exchange has allowed CMLL luminaries such as Mistico, Hechicero, and Volador Jr. to showcase their talents to American audiences.
Conversely, fans at Arena Mexico had the opportunity to witness AEW stars in action, with notable names like the Blackpool Combat Club, Willow Nightingale, and Matt Sydal making appearances at the Homenaje A Dos Leyendas event in late March.
