AEW Dynasty has concluded, garnering widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike, particularly applauding standout moments such as Will Ospreay’s triumph over Bryan Danielson, Jack Perry’s return, and Swerve Strickland’s historic victory over Samoa Joe, securing him the distinction of becoming the inaugural black AEW World Champion.
Amidst the accolades, however, a divisive segment emerged during Chris Jericho’s clash against Hook, culminating in Jericho clinching the FTW World Championship after striking Hook with a baseball bat.
While criticism abounds for Jericho in light of recent events, his longtime colleague and AEW producer Mark Henry stands apart in his support.
On a recent episode of “Busted Open Radio,” Henry stepped forward to defend Jericho, commending his efforts in nurturing younger talent and spotlighting the compelling narrative surrounding his bout with Hook.
“I think, and it’s just my opinion, that Hook and the story of it was just as good as the match was,” remarked Henry. “The story, actually, I feel like is better than the match was, because Chris is doing career building.
To see Taz get up from the announce table and walk to the ring like, you know, ‘Hey man, that’s messed up man. You hit my son with a bat.’
“That whole interaction I think was great, and I think that Chris is still doing some of the best work in pro wrestling, because [of] how he’s leading people to their career arcs. And that’s hard to do. And people got to give a damn, and people actually do give a damn about Chris.”
