Cody Rhodes’ triumphant victory over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 marked a rare and significant moment in modern professional wrestling, according to wrestling veteran Glacier.
In an interview on The Wrestling Time Machine, Glacier expressed his satisfaction at witnessing Rhodes’ monumental win and the heartfelt reaction from the live audience.
“Obviously I was hoping it all worked out for Cody. But I remember I was sitting there and I literally I was just, it was a very surreal moment. I remember just sitting there and just smiling. You know, just smiling. And I did a podcast last night and I talked about this is that, you know the thing that I took away, and I watched the replay of RAW [after WrestleMania]… You go back to when they show the three count, and just look at the audience behind him. They are all doing this, they are all going 1, 2, and then the crowd just erupts and there is a very real, authentic moment. And we just don’t get a lot of those these days in wrestling,” Glacier remarked.
While Rhodes’ win has garnered widespread acclaim, he himself has been quick to acknowledge the contributions of his opponent, Roman Reigns, during his time in WWE.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show from WrestleMania XL, Rhodes commended Reigns for his ability to charm audiences and predicted a lasting legacy for the Tribal Chief.
“Forty years of WrestleMania being celebrated. But we cannot go without mentioning how good at capturing the imagination of the audience Roman Reigns has been. Incredible. He really will be looked at in a completely different sense, I think, five – ten years from now. What he has done is amazing. I don’t have to like Roman Reigns. But I absolutely respect him,” Rhodes stated.
Looking ahead, Rhodes is scheduled to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles at Backlash, France next month, setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying showdown.
