Jiri Prochazka is eager for a rematch with Alex Pereira following their respective victories at UFC 300, where both fighters showcased their formidable skills.
In a conversation with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Prochazka expressed his readiness to return to the octagon as soon as possible, ideally against Pereira for the light heavyweight title, possibly in Brazil within the next two weeks.
Prochazka’s victory at UFC 300 came via a second-round TKO against Aleksandar Rakic in a match that highlighted his ground-and-pound capabilities. Meanwhile, Pereira defended his UFC light heavyweight title with a stunning first-round knockout of Jamahal Hill.
Prochazka Wants a Rematch
Reflecting on his previous bout with Pereira, Prochazka disclosed that he had faced significant challenges, including a brief training period of only about a week due to staph infections and antibiotic treatments. Despite these hurdles, he remains enthusiastic about a rematch, stating:
“As soon as possible. If that will be for a title with Alex [Pereira], I am open to take a date in Brazil… Yeah, like in two weeks… I had a full training camp before this fight and this training camp was much more; for me, it was like [laughs] I trained much more [against Rakic] than for the fight with Pereira. For Pereira, I trained [laughs] just almost just six days or one week. Yeah because there was a lot of struggles and all these staph infections and antibiotics. Doesn’t matter.”

Prochazka and Pereira first squared off in a highly anticipated matchup at UFC 295 in New York City at Madison Square Garden.
The fight was set to fill the vacancy for the UFC light heavyweight title, a belt that Prochazka previously held and never lost inside the cage due to an injury that sidelined him.
Their encounter turned out to be a dramatic confrontation with Pereira emerging victorious, thus becoming a two-division UFC champion, having previously claimed the middleweight title.
Now, with both fighters coming off fresh victories, a rematch could not only offer Prochazka a chance at redemption but also solidify Pereira’s standing in the light heavyweight division.
