AEW’s Miro provided an update on the injuries that have sidelined him from action. The Bulgarian powerhouse has been absent since his victory over Andrade El Idolo, which turned out to be Andrade’s final match for AEW before returning to WWE.
In March, Miro took to social media to address rumors surrounding his absence, revealing that he had been grappling with injuries since September of the previous year, notably during the speculated “Meat Madness” match at AEW’s Revolution event, which was ultimately canceled.
Miro disclosed that he had sustained injuries to both his shoulder and elbow, finally seeking treatment in January with shots. He is currently focused on recuperation, undergoing rehabilitation, and is determined to come back stronger than ever.
In 2023, Miro participated in just seven matches, four of which were after sustaining his injury. Prior to that, he had been on hiatus from AEW since All Out in September 2022, concluding a year marked by only four matches for the former TNT Champion.
Interestingly, he wrestled nearly double the number of matches during 2021—his tenure as the TNT titleholder—than he has in all subsequent years combined.
It’s noteworthy that during his absence from wrestling, Miro explored other ventures, including an acting stint on the television series “East New York,” which required him to remain in the Empire State for an extended period.
Despite his hiatus, Miro reaffirmed his commitment to AEW by signing a four-year extension in 2022, indicating that he still harbors unfinished goals within the promotion.
