At WrestleMania XL, title changes were aplenty, but some champions retained, including Rhea Ripley and Logan Paul. R-Truth, part of the new RAW Tag Team Champions, disclosed a near mishap during his recent title bout.
In the thrilling Six-Pack Ladder Match at WrestleMania XL, The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest lost the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles.
The match concluded with a split in the tag team titles, with Awesome Truth claiming the RAW Tag Team Championship and A-Town Down Under securing the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show alongside The Miz, R-Truth opened up about a tense moment during the match’s climax, admitting to nearly tumbling off the ladder while grabbing the titles:
“I did almost fall, you know, that one ladder broke, I had to grab another one. [On seemingly helping Damian Priest during a spot] I wasn’t trying to help him. That was for me,”
he said.
Furthermore, R-Truth recounted how a gust of wind at the venue nudged the title behind his back as he ascended the ladder:
“I had to go up, and the wind was blowing. When I went for the belt for the first time, the wind said [blows]. You saw that, right? It blew behind my back, and when I grabbed it, the only thing I could think of was King Kong because I was going to hold on.”
Additionally, The Miz revisited his past rivalry with Bryan Danielson, now known as a top AEW star, poking fun at him on social media.
The tweet included a video clip from their iconic showdown on The Talking Smack in 2016, hinting that Bryan resumed wrestling after their heated exchange.
Awesome Truth’s championship reign brings excitement to fans, and their future in the title picture remains uncertain.
