Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has voiced his prediction that wrestling fans may sour on Cody Rhodes in the coming months.
Capping off his storyline at WrestleMania XL with a triumph over Roman Reigns in the main event, the American Nightmare secured the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship amidst a match fraught with distractions and interferences.
Despite the odds, Cody sealed his victory with a trifecta of Cross Rhodes maneuvers against his adversary.
On a recent installment of Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Russo forecasted a potential downturn in fan support for Cody Rhodes, estimating it could occur within less than seven months and potentially by the end of summer. He elaborated,
“Way under seven months… Towards the end of the summer, beginning of September.”
Russo elaborated on his forecast, suggesting that Cody’s reign might become predictable, particularly as he anticipated that Cody would likely not lose during his initial title defense.
He speculated that such predictability could lead to fan disinterest, stating,
“That’s exactly the way they set it up. Whoever Cody’s first opponent is, he’s not gonna lose. They’re not gonna beat Cody. All the hoopla bro, last year, finish the story. You think the first opponent is gonna beat Cody? So right off the time, you’re wasting our time. You’ve made this so predictable.”
Cody Rhodes’ monumental victory at WrestleMania has undoubtedly reshaped the terrain of the WWE.
As the company enters a new era, the trajectory of the second-generation superstar’s journey will undoubtedly be a focal point for fans in the months ahead.
