According to royal expert Rupert Bell, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are heavily reliant on their royal connections for public interest, as without them, they lack substantial appeal.
Appearing on Talk TV’s Heirs and Spares, Bell pointed out the contradiction in the couple’s claims of wanting to distance themselves from the Royal Family while simultaneously capitalizing on their royal status.
He referenced their newly launched website, www.sussex.com, adorned with Meghan’s coat of arms and their royal titles across all pages.
Bell emphasized that without their royal association, Harry and Meghan’s marketability diminishes significantly, reducing them to just another celebrity couple in the eyes of the public.
Drawing a distinction between those who earn their celebrity status through hard work and those who inherit it, Bell highlighted the expectation for celebrities to continuously prove themselves in their respective fields, unlike royals who may rely on their titles for relevance.
Regarding Harry and Meghan’s mindset, Bell suggested they perceive their royal titles as sufficient, expecting unwavering support from the public. However, he noted the growing frustration among the public regarding their perceived exploitation of their royal connections.
Bell speculated on the challenges faced by King Charles, considering Harry’s familial ties and the reluctance to intervene in the Sussexes’ affairs, granting them considerable freedom to leverage their royal status for personal gain.
