In her new book, “Our Fight: A Memoir,” Ronda Rousey unveils her frustration over a canceled WWE match promised to her against Becky Lynch. Despite the intense rivalry, the two never faced off in a singles match on WWE TV.
According to Rousey’s account, WWE initially pledged the match but later reneged on the promise, leaving her seething with disappointment.
In response, Rousey reached out to Paul Heyman, expressing her demand to put Charlotte Flair over on WWE SmackDown. This led to a conversation with Triple H, ultimately resulting in Rousey’s on-screen partnership with her real-life friend Shayna Baszler.
Ronda was furious the Becky match she was promised was cancelled and texted Heyman to demand she put over Charlotte at Smackdown. Ronda then talked with HHH and she was put in a tag with Shayna. Paul Heyman’s Limited Options and Rousey’s Departure from WWE
Following Rousey’s signing in 2018, there were expectations among fans that she might align with Paul Heyman on WWE TV.
However, Heyman clarified in a podcast interview with Rick Rubin that his WWE agreement provided “limited options,” with only a handful of potential superstars he could manage.
Among the listed names were Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Ronda Rousey.
However, circumstances such as Rousey’s maternity leave and Lesnar’s absence from Saudi shows left Heyman with fewer options. Ultimately, Heyman’s managerial role with Rousey never materialized.
Rousey’s WWE Exit and Uncertain Future
Rousey’s WWE tenure ended abruptly after her loss to Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match at SummerSlam 2023.
Since then, she has been vocal about her grievances with the company, expressing skepticism about a potential return.
As she continues to promote her book and share her experiences, it appears increasingly unlikely that Rousey will make a comeback to WWE anytime soon, given her recent criticisms and disagreements with the promotion.
