Tim Willits, the chief operating officer of Saber Interactive, has taken to social media to affirm that the publisher has several titles in progress, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, following the recent sale to Embracer Group.
This morning, amidst earlier speculation of an imminent sale, Embracer Group disclosed that it had agreed to divest significant portions of Saber Interactive for $247 million. The purchaser, Beacon Interactive, was established by Saber Interactive co-founder Matthew Karch.
Embracer further indicated that it would retain joint involvement in two projects with Saber, with one reportedly being the troubled Star Wars: The Old Republic Remake, according to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg. Nevertheless, it remained uncertain whether today’s transaction would affect the development of other previously announced titles at Saber.
Tim Willits, the COO of Saber Interactive, has now shed light on this matter, confirming the development status of three known projects within the company.
“I’ve been fielding numerous inquiries about the progress of our previously announced projects since Saber’s separation from Embracer,” Willits stated. “I’m pleased to confirm that we are actively working on several titles, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, and Jurassic Park: Survival. We are incredibly enthusiastic about these projects and eagerly anticipate sharing more details with everyone soon.”
Among the three titles disclosed by Willits, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is slated for release in the latter half of 2024 following a notable delay, while the 80s-inspired cooperative first-person shooter, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, is scheduled for launch later this year. As for Jurassic Park: Survival, unveiled during December’s Game Awards, a specific release timeframe has yet to be announced.
