Dave Meltzer has ignited speculation surrounding The Rock’s potential extended involvement in WWE throughout the remainder of this year.
In the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer hinted at The Rock’s imminent return to the squared circle, suggesting a showdown with Roman Reigns post-WrestleMania.
Moreover, Meltzer teased the possibility of The Rock locking horns with Cody Rhodes in a singles match, potentially slated for SummerSlam.
These insights shed light on The Rock’s highly anticipated comeback to WWE following a prolonged absence from in-ring action. Meltzer elaborated on The Rock’s expected return, stating that it’s not merely confined to a single match. He emphasized:
“The thought is this is not going to be his only match this year. Whether it’s Saudi Arabia, whether it’s SummerSlam, he’s probably going to wrestle Roman Reigns coming off of this. That’s always been the plan.”
Alongside the much-awaited clash with Reigns, Meltzer hinted at the possibility of The Rock squaring off against Cody Rhodes in a singles match, especially if Rhodes secures a championship victory.
This potential encounter with Rhodes might unfold at SummerSlam, marking another significant milestone in The Rock’s return to active competition in WWE.
“I think he’s probably gonna do a singles match with Cody probably, if Cody wins the title, I can easily see them doing that match.”
Regarding The Rock’s confirmed match at WrestleMania 40, on the March 8th episode of SmackDown, Roman Reigns officially accepted The Rock’s proposed plan for a tag team match at WrestleMania XL, with Reigns teaming up with Seth Rollins against The Rock and Cody Rhodes.
This match marks The Rock’s first official WWE bout in eight years.
