Veteran wrestler Tom Prichard sees potential for a poignant reunion at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, suggesting that former ECW Champion Rob Van Dam could be the perfect candidate to induct Paul Heyman, the mastermind behind ECW’s rise.
Heyman, now a pivotal figure in WWE as the Special Counsel to Universal Champion Roman Reigns, has been announced as the inaugural inductee for the 2024 Hall of Fame class.
When queried on the ideal candidate to do the honors on the Taking You to School podcast, Prichard leaned towards Van Dam, citing his stature within the industry:
“Choosing the right person is crucial. It has to be someone deeply tied to ECW. Maybe Rob Van Dam. He’s respected and already a Hall of Famer. As for The Dudley Boyz, their stance is uncertain. But Van Dam, Dudleyz, Tommy Dreamer,”
he pondered.
Rob Van Dam shares a significant history with Heyman, having been a cornerstone of ECW’s success under Heyman’s guidance.
In an interview with Sportkeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Van Dam reflected on Heyman’s journey, expressing his lack of surprise at Heyman’s accomplishments:
“It’s not shocking. It’s been a natural evolution. It wasn’t an overnight thing… The first time we saw him on WWE, it was a bit of a shock, given our history with ECW. But seeing him there, headset on, it made sense given ECW’s circumstances.”
Van Dam’s recent stint in AEW hasn’t dimmed the possibility of him stepping back into the WWE spotlight for this significant moment.
While he’s been active in the wrestling scene, teaming up with Hook and Adam Page on Dynamite, the question lingers: Could Van Dam be the one to usher Heyman into the hallowed halls of the WWE Hall of Fame?
As speculation brews, the wrestling world eagerly awaits the unveiling of the induction ceremony and the potential reunion it may bring between Heyman and one of his prized proteges.
