WWE’s Chelsea Green, also known as “The Hot Mess,” has once again found herself at the center of attention, this time for all the wrong reasons. During the May 10 episode of SmackDown, Green’s tag team partner Piper Niven took on WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Jade Cargill in a qualifying match for the King and Queen of The Ring tournament. However, it was Green’s antics that stole the show, or rather, stole the embarrassment.
As Cargill made her way to the ring, Green accompanied Niven, but her attempts to distract Cargill backfired spectacularly. In a hilarious moment, Green took a forearm to the face from Cargill, sending her crashing to the mat. The embarrassing fall was captured on video and quickly went viral, much to Green’s dismay.
A WWE fan posted the clip on social media, poking fun at Green’s misfortune, asking if she was okay. Green responded, demanding that the video be taken down. However, it was too late, and the internet had already revelled in her humiliation.
Despite the embarrassment, it’s worth noting that Green’s character, “The Hot Mess,” is a heel, and her on-screen persona is that of a troublemaker. Even WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray praised her performance on The Busted Open podcast, acknowledging that she stays true to her character both on- and off-screen.
Green’s signing with WWE in 2023 has proven to be one of the best decisions the company has made. Her feuds on SmackDown are always highly anticipated, and her notorious impulses often lead to entertaining storylines. While her humiliating fall on SmackDown may have earned her online ridicule, it’s undeniable that she’s become a fan favourite, much like Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day.
As the WWE universe awaits her next move, one thing is for certain – Chelsea Green will continue to stir up controversy and excitement wherever she goes.
