Since taking the reins from Vince McMahon as WWE’s creative lead in July 2022, Triple H has been at the helm of main roster storylines. Recently, Dutch Mantell, also known as Zeb Colter during his wrestling days, weighed in on the possibility of seeing Glenn Jacobs, famously known as Kane, back on television under Triple H’s watch.
Jacobs garnered immense recognition for his portrayal of the iconic Kane character from 1997 until 2021. Beyond the squared circle, the 56-year-old has been serving as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, since 2018.
In a recent interview with David Gornoski, Jacobs alluded to his wrestling days being behind him, almost solidifying his retirement from the sport.
During an episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, Mantell empathized with Jacobs’s decision to stay away from in-ring competition.
However, he speculated on the potential impact Jacobs could have if he were to make a return, suggesting that Triple H would likely present him as a special attraction:
“If he had to come back and make an appearance, especially now, he would actually really mean something,” Mantell remarked. “Because now Triple H has WWE, he’s got them in good shape.”
Jacobs’s last in-ring appearance was in 2021 during the Men’s Royal Rumble match, where he endured nearly two minutes before being eliminated by Damian Priest, in a storyline reminiscent of his connection with The Undertaker.
Interestingly, Dutch Mantell shared a personal connection with Glenn Jacobs dating back to the mid-1990s when Jacobs briefly stayed with him in Puerto Rico during their wrestling endeavors.
Reflecting on those times, Mantell only had praise for Jacobs, both as a wrestler and as a person, highlighting his adaptability to different wrestling styles:
“He learned the business [in Puerto Rico] I think more than he ever has until he went to WWF [WWE]. He learned their style when he went there. I don’t think he’s ever forgotten it, and I lived with him, great guy, but I’m glad I got him down there and he didn’t have a bad story to tell about Puerto Rico.”
In a 2023 conversation Senior Editor Bill Apter, Jacobs touched on Vince McMahon’s decision to sell WWE to Endeavor, showcasing his continued involvement and interest in the wrestling industry.
The question remains: Would you, as a fan, like to witness Glenn Jacobs step into the ring for one more match?
