In a surprise move, WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze, also known as Madusa, has expressed interest in taking on a new role within the company – that of a referee! The 61-year-old wrestling veteran, who has had a storied career spanning over 40 years, has worn many hats, including in-ring talent, valet, manager, trainer, and producer. However, officiating a match has always been a missing piece in her impressive resume.
Blayze’s interest in becoming a referee was sparked by a fan’s creation of a WWE 2K24 mod that featured her as an in-game referee. She responded to the fan’s tweet, suggesting that WWE bring her back to officiate a match. This development comes after her recent appearance at WrestleMania XL Week, where she inducted Bull Nakano into the Hall of Fame. Hertweet has set the wrestling world abuzz, with fans eagerly anticipating the possibility of seeing her in the referee’s stripes.
The multi-time champion has been on good terms with WWE since her Hall of Fame induction in 2015 and has made several appearances for the company since then. Her last recorded match was a 24/7 Championship win over Candice Michelle in 2019. Although she dropped the title to Ted DiBiase on the same night, Blayze has continued to stay involved with WWE, appearing at RAW XXX in January 2023 and NXT the year before.
Interestingly, Blayze has a connection to Paul Heyman, who was the headliner of the 2024 Hall of Fame induction ceremony. She worked closely with Heyman during her time in WCW, as a member of his legendary faction, The Dangerous Alliance. Her friendship with Heyman and Nakano was evident during WrestleMania Week, where she shared photos with the two wrestling legends.
The prospect of Alundra Blayze donning the referee stripes has sent waves of excitement through the wrestling community. If WWE decides to take her up on her offer, it would be a unique opportunity for fans to see a new side of the wrestling legend. Only time will tell if this new chapter in Blayze’s WWE journey will come to fruition, but one thing is certain – it would be a welcome addition to the WWE universe.
