As the WWE Draft commences tonight in Cincinnati, Ohio, reigning champions Grayson Waller and Austin Theory add a touch of humor to the proceedings.
Having clinched victory in the 6-Pack Challenge Ladder match at WrestleMania XL, earning the WWE Tag Team Championships on SmackDown, they’ve garnered attention ahead of the draft.
In a light-hearted social media post, Grayson Waller jokingly fabricated a report from the Wrestling Observer, claiming Netflix’s disappointment over their ineligibility for draft consideration.
According to Waller’s jest, Netflix sees their duo, A Town Down Under, as the future of entertainment.
“Ahead of tonight’s WWE Draft, Netflix executives are said to be disappointed that champions A Town Down Under will be eligible to make the switch to Monday nights. Sources say Netflix see the talented and handsome duo as the future of the entertainment industry,” Waller quipped.
Meanwhile, in response to Grayson Waller’s playful jab at All Elite Wrestling (AEW), AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland addressed the matter during an appearance on Going Ringside.
While congratulating Waller on his championship, Strickland asserted AEW’s superiority in wrestling, both in Jacksonville and worldwide.
“Obviously [it was a shot at All Elite Wrestling], and I love the subtleties. This person that said that… congratulations on their championship gold, amazing. You were awesome when you were watching me in the seats when I was becoming a champion over where you were as well. Happy to see where you progressed to, but let’s be real… We [AEW] are the best wrestling. Not just in Jacksonville, but anywhere… on the globe. In the world, and I stand on business on that,” Strickland remarked.
With the upcoming deal bringing RAW to Netflix in 2025, speculation arises about Waller and Theory’s potential brand switch in next year’s draft. As the draft unfolds, fans eagerly await further developments and surprises in the WWE.
