In a candid conversation with Sean Ross Sapp at Wrestlecon, Xia Brookside, a former WWE talent, shared her thoughts on her fear of heights and her new venture with Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling. Brookside, who was released from the WWE’s developmental brand NXT UK in September 2022, has started a new chapter in her wrestling career with the TNA.
Brookside’s journey to TNA began at the Hard To Kill event on January 13, 2024, where she competed in the Knockouts Ultimate X match, a unique match type that involves retrieving an item suspended from cables connected to metal structures rising from the four corners of the ring. This match type is similar to the Ladder match produced by WWE, a promotion she was familiar with during her time in NXT UK.
The bout, which kicked off the main show, marked Brookside’s debut in TNA, and shortly after, she signed a multi-year contract with the company. Brookside then made her TV debut on the January 18 episode of TNA Impact! in a one-on-one match against Tasha Steelz, emerging victorious.
Brookside was not the only former WWE talent to join TNA as part of the company’s rebranding efforts. Other names that resurfaced in the ring at Hard To Kill included Nic Nemeth, Asha (formerly known as Dolph Ziggler), Dana Brooke (now competing as Ash by Elegance), and Top Dolla (now competing as A.J. Francis).
As the WWE continues to focus on its own developmental brand, NXT, it’s clear that TNA is capitalizing on the talent that has been let go by the Stamford-based promotion. With Brookside now signed to a multi-year deal, fans can expect to see more of her in the ring, battling for the top spot in the TNA women’s division.
As she navigates her new surroundings, Brookside will undoubtedly continue to face challenges, including her fear of heights, which she openly discussed during her conversation with Sapp. Despite these obstacles, Brookside’s determination and passion for wrestling will likely drive her to succeed in her new home at TNA.
