The wrestling community is abuzz with the news of Paul Heyman’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame this year.
However, there’s an interesting twist – Jim Cornette, a legendary wrestling manager, has opted out of the role to induct Heyman, stating that someone else would be more fitting for the task.
Jim Cornette, often regarded as one of the most influential figures in wrestling history, shared his perspective on Heyman’s upcoming induction on the latest edition of the Jim Cornette Drive-Thru.
While expressing his happiness for Heyman, Cornette acknowledged that his own contributions to Heyman’s career were minimal and dated back over three decades. He believed that there must be someone more instrumental in Heyman’s journey to do the honors.
“Boy howdy, people were like, ‘Oh Jim, you’ve got to induct him,’ ‘You’ve got to…’ No, I’m sure that there’s somebody that Paul would think is more instrumental in his career than our little skirmishes we had 35 years ago. But I’m fully in favor of this. I think he’s incredible. I don’t have any qualms whatsoever in saying that Paul Heyman should go in the WWE Hall of Fame, for his work over the last couple of years if nothing else,” explained Cornette. [0:20-0:53]
Paul Heyman, often referred to as The Wiseman, is set to be honored in the city that was once home to ECW, the major promotion he ran in Philadelphia. Heyman’s induction recognizes his impactful contributions in ‘The Land of Extreme’ before achieving monumental success in WWE.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Paul Heyman disclosed that he had turned down the Hall of Fame multiple times in the past.
However, this year presented a perfect storm of circumstances that led him to finally accept the prestigious honor.
With Triple H in full control of determining inductees, the event taking place in Philadelphia, the former home of ECW, and coinciding with WrestleMania 40, Heyman found the timing ideal to embrace the recognition. (H/T – CageSide Seats)
The 2024 WWE Hall of Fame will also see the induction of Bull Nakano, The U.S. Express, and legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, marking a diverse and illustrious class.
