Innovate UK has recently recognized the outstanding achievements of five women-led studios from the UK, awarding them a prestigious accolade alongside a total grant of £215,000.
This funding encompasses both business grants and personal living allowances, bolstering the studios’ endeavors with 12 months of dedicated support.
The recipients of this commendation are esteemed figures in their respective fields, comprising Kate Killick, CEO of Glowfrog Games; Jane Gerber, executive producer at Peanut & Crumb; Alyx Jones, founder of Silver Script Games; Hilary Lok, co-founder of Dot Dot Fire; and Connie Reid, director, and designer at Konglomerate Games.
Each of the studios has been granted financial assistance, with four of them receiving £50,000 individually. Glowfrog Games, in particular, was awarded £15,000, inclusive of a £5,000 business grant and a £10,000 personal living allowance.
Expressing her gratitude, Kate Killick remarked, “I’m thrilled to receive this award from Innovate UK to help launch Glowfrog Games. Women in games continue to face significant challenges in accessing support and funding for their businesses, and programs like this play an important part in creating a brighter future for the industry.”
These five studios stand among the over 200 entrepreneurs who are benefiting from Innovate UK’s support, with a substantial £6.2 million being allocated overall to fuel the aspirations of innovative minds.
