It appears that Texas-based Wimo Games has officially ceased its operations, as disclosed by former employees through various social media platforms.
Walter Hill, a former associate software engineer, conveyed on LinkedIn that the independent developer and publisher had closed its doors. This information was also shared by Kevin T. Chin, the principal concept artist, on X.
According to Hill, at the time of the studio’s closure, there were 35 individuals employed there. GamesIndustry.biz has sought additional details from Wimo Games regarding the rationale behind the decision to shut down.
Established in 2021, Wimo Games is known for titles like Battle Bows, Micro Machines: Mini Challenge Mayhem, and RPG Dice: Heroes of Whitestone.
Update as of January 19: Wimo CEO Dave Rosen officially confirmed the closure in a statement provided to GamesIndustry.biz. Rosen expressed regret over the unexpected outcome, citing the incredible three-year journey with the team.
Despite the closure, Rosen highlighted the team’s pride in their work on RPG Dice: Heroes of Whitestone, Battle Bows, and the recent release, Micro Machines: Mini Challenge Mayhem.
Acknowledging the players and collaborators, he mentioned that the talented team members are now actively seeking new opportunities, having been provided with severance to aid in their transition.
Rosen encouraged those with available roles or leads to get in touch with Wimo through LinkedIn or directly with the individuals affected. He expressed gratitude towards players and collaborating organizations for their support throughout Wimo Games’ existence.
