Former WWE writer Vince Russo recently shared his thoughts on the absence of top stars like Roman Reigns and The Rock from weekly programming.
After the buzzworthy WrestleMania 40 kickoff press conference in Las Vegas, fans were left wondering why Reigns and The Rock didn’t make an appearance on SmackDown. Later in the episode, Paul Heyman revealed that both superstars would return the following Friday.
Russo discussed this week’s Monday Night Show. He expressed frustration over the lack of consistent appearances from WWE’s biggest stars, believing it sends a message that the weekly shows aren’t important to them.
“Here’s what it tells me. It isn’t important enough for your two biggest stars to be on the show. If it’s not important to them, why is it important to me? […] It’s all about WrestleMania, pointing at the sign and the two biggest guys; it’s not important enough for them to be there. They got more important things to do. Come on, man,” Russo remarked.
In the upcoming headline bout of WrestleMania 40, Reigns is scheduled to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes.
Russo’s comments shed light on the perception of WWE’s top stars and their commitment to weekly programming. As WrestleMania season approaches, fans anticipate seeing more of their favorite superstars as the road to the grand event unfolds.
