Former WWE head writer Vince Russo is skeptical about Ilja Dragunov’s prospects on the main roster, despite his recent draft to Monday Night RAW during the WWE Draft’s Night Two.
Dragunov, a former NXT Champion known for his fierce presence in the ring, notably dropped the NXT Championship to Trick Williams.
Additionally, he shares a storied rivalry with Gunther, having defeated the Ring General in the past.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Russo voiced his doubts about Dragunov’s ability to rise to the top in WWE. He boldly predicted that a year from now, Dragunov would find himself in the same position as he is currently.
With conviction, Russo stated,
“This guy is never getting over. Guys, mark this down and let’s revisit this next April 29, 2025. I am telling you right now, a year from now, this guy will be in the same exact spot he’s in right now.”
Despite Russo’s skepticism, fans are buzzing with excitement over the potential rematch between Dragunov and Gunther, especially now that both superstars find themselves on the same brand once again.
Their electrifying clash for the NXT UK Championship in 2021 left a lasting impression on fans, fueling anticipation for what could unfold between the two powerhouse competitors on RAW.
