Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon’s fiery temperament is no secret, and his clashes with WWE Superstars backstage have been well-documented.
Recently, multi-time women’s champion Becky Lynch shared insights into a tense encounter with McMahon following a RAW segment involving Lacey Evans.
In her autobiography, “The Man Becky Lynch: Not Your Average Average Girl,” Lynch recounts deviating from the script during the segment, triggering McMahon’s ire.
The planned sequence involved Lynch being knocked down by Evans, yet Lynch remained upright, contrary to the script.
“‘What did I tell you?’ Vince asked, turning the spotlight on me. ‘To go down with the punch,’ I answered, realizing my mistake,”
Lynch revealed. McMahon’s frustration was palpable as he admonished her for deviating from the agreed-upon plan.
Despite Lynch’s explanation that her instinctive reaction led her to stay upright, McMahon viewed her actions as a breach of trust, accusing her of taking liberties following her pivotal WrestleMania 35 victory.
Following the altercation, Lynch sought solace in a conversation with Seth Rollins (Colby Lopez), who provided reassurance and support. With guidance from former Senior Director of Talent Relations Mark Carrano, Lynch confronted McMahon to address the issue.
In a heartfelt exchange, Lynch apologized for her error, prompting McMahon to extend an olive branch, citing his own fallibility. The reconciliation culminated in an unexpected embrace, signaling a resolution to their conflict.
While the WWE Universe remained oblivious to the backstage discord, Lynch’s narrative sheds light on the intricacies of professional wrestling dynamics.
Despite the setback, Lynch’s resilience prevailed as she continued her storyline with Evans, albeit with reservations about her opponent’s readiness.
As Lynch prepares for her upcoming clash against Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 40, her encounter with McMahon serves as a testament to her tenacity and ability to navigate challenges in sports entertainment.
