Vanessa Demopoulos recently opened up about her distinctive post-fight celebration, where she jumps into the arms of UFC interviewers after her victories. This unique celebration has become her trademark, and during an appearance on the MMA Today show with RJ Clifford, Alan Jouban, and Angela Hill, she shared the origins of this practice.
During the interview, Jouban recalled advising Demopoulos to make the most of ‘Hot Mic’ moments in the UFC. Demopoulos acknowledged his advice, stating,
“Alan, I do got to give you that credit. I literally remember that exact moment, and you literally said, ‘Know when the mic is hot,’ and, man, let me tell you, I’m running with it.”
She went on to explain that even during Slap Fight events, she would ask for permission before jumping on interviewers, unlike her earlier spontaneous actions with Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping.
Demopoulos’ most recent victory was a split decision win over Emily Ducote at UFC Vegas 92, extending her winning streak to two fights. Prior to this, she defeated Kanaka Murata via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 80 in October. Her professional MMA record now stands at 11 wins and 5 losses.
In addition to discussing her celebration’s origin, Demopoulos also once revealed her bucket list of UFC interviewers she wished to jump on after her fights. Following her victory over Maria Oliveira at UFC Vegas 65, she famously leaped into Michael Bisping’s arms, having previously done so with Joe Rogan after defeating Silvana Gomez Suarez at UFC 270 in January 2022.
When asked during a post-fight interview at UFC Vegas 65 if she had a list of personalities she wanted to jump on, Demopoulos responded affirmatively. She mentioned Daniel Cormier, expressing a desire to appear on pay-per-view events to celebrate with him. She also hoped to celebrate with Paul Felder but was satisfied with getting a “take-two” with Michael Bisping, describing it as a much better embrace.
Demopoulos eventually fulfilled her wish of jumping on Daniel Cormier after her win over Kanaka Murata at UFC Vegas 80, further cementing her unique post-fight celebration tradition.
