Mitch Raposo, a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from Fall River, Massachusetts, is currently ranked first among active New England Pro Flyweights and third among active US Northeast Pro Flyweights. He holds a record of nine wins and one loss, with four wins by knockout, three by submission, and two by unanimous decision. Raposo has fought for organizations such as Cage Titans Fighting Championship, Classic Entertainment & Sports MMA, and Combat Zone, and he trains under coach Brian Raposo at Regiment Training Center.
Raposo, who is 25 years old, competed as a bantamweight on season 29 of “The Ultimate Fighter” (TUF) in 2021. He was part of Alexander Volkanovski’s team but was defeated by Liudvik Sholinian of Brian Ortega’s team. Later in 2021, he fought Jake Hadley on Dana White’s Contender Series and lost via submission in the second round.
Currently, Raposo is on a four-fight winning streak with victories over opponents like Jay Viola, Flavio Carvalho, and Tyler Smythe. In his most recent fight at Cage Titans 63 this January, he knocked out Justin Valentin in the fourth round to win the vacant flyweight title.
According to multiple sources, Raposo is set to make his UFC debut against Andre Lima in a flyweight bout at UFC 302. He steps in for Nyamjargal Tumendemberel, who had to withdraw from the fight due to visa issues. The event is scheduled for June 1 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. MMA journalist Nolan King first broke the news on X.
Andre Lima, Raposo’s upcoming opponent, has one win in the UFC. His most recent fight was at UFC Vegas 89 in March, where he won against Igor Severino via disqualification after Severino bit his arm.
Reflecting on his experience before TUF Season 29, Raposo spoke about representing his hometown and his training with Rob Font and Calvin Kattar since he was 18. He mentioned how seeing them fight in the UFC with a chip on their shoulders has influenced him. Raposo feels he is part of the next wave of MMA talent coming out of the New England Cartel, joining the ranks of fighters like Font and Kattar who are potential title contenders.
Raposo’s debut in the octagon is highly anticipated, and his fight against Lima at UFC 302 marks an important milestone in his career.
