UC Berkeley is set to offer a unique class centered around fighting games during the upcoming Spring 2024 semester. This class goes beyond merely teaching participants how to enhance their gaming skills; it also delves into the profound impact that the fighting game genre has had on the global landscape.
The course objectives, outlined in a UC Berkeley class description, aim to guide beginners to a mid-level of play through expert assistance, ensuring a seamless introduction to the intricate world of fighting games.
Specifically tailored for those with less than 100 hours of experience in the genre, the class is designed to be beginner-friendly.
Beyond honing gaming proficiency, the class will explore the influence of fighting games on Japanese culture. The course description underscores its role as a “gateway to understanding modern Japanese culture.”
