The world of professional wrestling is no stranger to controversy, and the latest feud between AEW President Tony Khan and WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has sent shockwaves throughout the industry.
The dispute centers around Nash’s recent comments about AEW star Will Ospreay, which Khan has vehemently disagreed with.
Nash, a veteran of both WCW and WWE, sparked the debate when he labeled Ospreay as “Indy-riffic” during an episode of his Kliq This podcast.
The former wrestler also advised Ospreay to get in better shape, suggesting that athletes in the independent scene need to take care of their bodies. Nash’s remarks were met with widespread criticism from fans and wrestlers alike, who felt that his comments were unfair and misinformed.
Tony Khan, never one to shy away from speaking his mind, wasted no time in responding to Nash’s controversial takes. Speaking on Z100, Khan defended Ospreay, calling him one of the best young wrestlers in the world.
“I think Kevin Nash was a great wrestler,” Khan said. “His opinions on wrestling, I’m not sure I agree with them. He’s had some takes on Will Ospreay that I definitely don’t agree with.”
Khan went on to praise Ospreay’s work ethic, stating that the AEW star has been consistently delivering top-notch performances since joining the promotion full-time in March 2023.
“We’re really fortunate to have Will Ospreay in AEW,” Khan emphasized. “He’s been coming in week in and week out and working so hard, having great matches.”
Ospreay himself has been at the center of a heated exchange with Triple H, with both men trading barbs on social media last month.
Despite this, the 30-year-old wrestler remains focused on his craft, preparing for his upcoming match against Roderick Strong at AEW Double or Nothing later this month.
As the debate continues to rage on, one thing is clear: Tony Khan will stop at nothing to defend his talent and promote the values of All Elite Wrestling.
With Ospreay slated to face off against Strong for the International Championship, all eyes will be on the Jacksonville-based promotion as it looks to solidify its position as a major player in professional wrestling.
