IDW Publishing has secured renowned writer Jason Aaron for the upcoming reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series set to debut this summer. Adding to the excitement, the publisher has enlisted four top-tier artists for the initial release of the new ongoing series, as revealed by IGN.
The revitalized Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title will kick off with four distinct issues, all penned by Aaron. Each issue will be illustrated by a different artist, with a focus on individual members of the iconic TMNT quartet.
To break it down, Joëlle Jones will be the artist for Raphael’s issue, Rafael Albuquerque will handle Michelangelo’s story in TMNT #2, Cliff Chiang will contribute his artistry to Leonardo’s issue, and Chris Burnham will illustrate the Donatello spotlight issue. Following this, Rafael Albuquerque is set to return for the title’s second arc spanning Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4-8.

Jason Aaron expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Launching a new TMNT comic series in the midst of the characters’ 40th anniversary is clearly one of those dream jobs of all comic book dream jobs.”
He reminisced about his early connection with the Turtles through the original Mirage Studios series, emphasizing the impactful and raw nature of those groundbreaking issues.
Aaron is set to take the reins as the writer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, succeeding long-time writer Sophie Campbell, whose run concludes with TMNT #150 in April.
Aaron’s relaunch in July will maintain continuity with its predecessor series, featuring a new renumbered title. The involvement of the current fifth turtle, Jennika, in the relaunch, remains uncertain.
Before the highly anticipated relaunch, fans are encouraged to revisit the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stories of all time.
