Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), recently addressed the topic of PC support for the game, although they have not officially confirmed that it will launch on PC. Scheduled for release in Fall 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, GTA 6’s PC version remains unannounced.
Historically, GTA games have been released first on consoles and then on PC at a later date, making it likely that PC players will have to wait until at least 2026 for their turn. This pattern has raised questions about Take-Two’s commitment to the PC platform, which CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed in a recent earnings call.
Zelnick expressed confidence that if a game has broad appeal, players will engage with it across various platforms, including PC. He highlighted that Take-Two’s strategy is to support platforms where there is sufficient audience demand, emphasizing that their platform decisions are informed by market trends.
This perspective suggests that Take-Two remains open to bringing GTA 6 to PC if the audience size justifies the effort, although Zelnick’s comments avoided directly confirming or denying the likelihood of a PC version of GTA 6 at launch.
The CEO also spoke positively about the growth of the PC gaming market, describing it as an “open format” that he believes will continue to expand within the gaming industry. He noted that PC gaming has become an increasingly important part of the console business, signaling that Take-Two recognizes the value of supporting PC as a viable and lucrative platform.
Despite this, the company remains selective in choosing which platforms to support, ensuring that there is enough potential engagement to justify the technical work involved in a PC port.
Interestingly, Zelnick’s remarks on PC support and the company’s platform strategy were couched in somewhat indirect language, leaving room for interpretation. He mentioned that adapting technology for different platforms isn’t overly complicated, but clarified that Take-Two does so based on the potential size of the audience.
This comment seems aimed at reassuring PC fans that a GTA 6 PC version is on Take-Two’s radar, even if it hasn’t been confirmed for the 2025 release window. Still, the ambiguity has fueled speculation that a PC version may not arrive until after the initial console release.
In previous interviews, Zelnick had a similarly cryptic stance on a GTA 6 PC release, describing the lack of a formal announcement as “not set in stone.” This cautious phrasing hints that Take-Two is keeping its options open, perhaps to assess demand and market conditions closer to the console release date. Fans remain hopeful that GTA 6 will eventually come to PC, as past GTA titles have, but for now, the publisher appears to be holding off on any definitive announcements.
