Last week, Tango Gameworks, the developer of the acclaimed rhythm-brawler Hi-Fi Rush, released a minor update in celebration of the game’s first anniversary. Despite the update’s initial focus on improvements, recent findings by dataminers are now suggesting potential releases for PlayStation and Switch, based on unique t-shirt designs.
Rumors about Hi-Fi Rush expanding beyond its PC and Xbox exclusivity emerged in January, amplified by reputable leakers supporting insider Nate the Hate’s claims about Microsoft bringing one of its acclaimed first-party releases to a competitor system this year.
While no official announcement has surfaced to confirm these speculations, the latest update, officially known as Patch 7, includes an Anniversary T-Shirt Bundle with new clothing options for the in-game character Chai.
Four designs are accessible to all players, while three are exclusive to the platform – Xbox, Steam, or the Epic Games Store – on which the game is owned. Dataminers, however, assert the discovery of two additional, unused T-shirts resembling exclusive designs for Switch and PlayStation.
The first design, in Nintendo’s signature red and white, features the slogan “Rock out! Anywhere,” aligning with the portable play aspect of the Switch. The second design, in PlayStation blue, showcases Chai’s silhouette along with the words “I’m here baby!”
Despite their potential authenticity, drawing definitive conclusions remains challenging. These T-shirts may hint at a future Hi-Fi Rush release on Switch and PlayStation, or they could signify a previously considered but now discarded plan. There’s also the possibility that Tango Gameworks is playfully engaging with the January rumors. Ultimately, only an official announcement from Microsoft can resolve the uncertainty.
Beyond the intrigue surrounding Hi-Fi Rush, these findings spark interest in the possibility of other Xbox-exclusive first-party games, like Sea of Thieves, making their way to PlayStation and Switch. The gaming community awaits further developments, anticipating an intriguing year for Xbox.
